Active School Flag

The Amber Flag Initiative

The Pieta House Amber Flag Initiative recognises the individual efforts of schools, companies and groups to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental well-being and unites these groups in their efforts, working together toward a happier, healthier Ireland and eradicate the stigmas associated with mental health issues.

Cheeverstown School has applied to be considered for the Amber Flag.  The school has identified a number of strategies already in place to promote positive mental health and are working on improving the promotion of positive mental health for all of the pupils and staff.  This is an exciting development within our school.

July Education Programme

On Monday, 3rd July our July Education Programme commenced. The pupils have enjoyed a range of activities including participating in the "Football Camp for All" organised by the FAI in Collinstown, Clondalkin.

As well as participating in all of their individual tasks and programmes they have visited lots of places including Marlay Park, Tymon Park and Orwell coffee shop.

School Leaver's Celebration

On June 26th we enjoyed a very special evening. We joined with two of our pupils and their families in celebrating the time they have spent and the achievements they have made here in Cheeverstown School.

Swim for a Mile

On Saturday 25th March 2017 our Principal, Ms. Sheelagh Jones challenged herself to ‘Swim a Mile’ in the National Aquatic Centre.

Sheelagh bravely took on this challenge to raise much needed funds for the costs that will be associated with running our own minibus here at Cheeverstown School. She trained hard to prepare herself for the event (with many early morning starts involved before her long school day even started!).

Sheelagh did herself and all of us proud and swam her mile in just 43 minutes. She was presented with a medal in recognition of her achievement and raised much needed funds for a worthy cause.

Sport's Day

On 13th June the students of Cheeverstown School participated in their Sport's Day. As you can see from the pictures lots of fun was had!

First Holy Communion

On Saturday 20th May 2017 two of our pupils, Kevin Lindsay and Leon Russell received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.

Kevin and Leon were joined by pupils from Ballyroan Boys’ National School, Scoil Naomh Pádraig, Rathfarnham Parish National School and Saplings, Rathfarnham in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Ballyroan at their ‘Do This in Memory of Me’ Mass which was celebrated by Fr. Brendan Madden.

The boys did so well alongside their peers in the ‘Our Father’ and as part of the ‘Circle of Friends’.

A huge congratulations to both of the boys and their families and friends on this special occasion.

Many thanks to their teacher and SNAs who helped prepare them for receiving this Sacrament and a special word of thanks to Paula Coghlan, Recreation Co-ordinator for Cheeverstown House who, as always, works extremely hard behind the scenes

Sacrament of Confirmation

Bishop Eamonn Walsh celebrated Confirmation in Terenure College Chapel on Saturday, June 10th.

Easter Egg Hunt

On Thursday 6th April, the students of Cheeverstown School set off on their Easter Egg Hunt. Excitement levels were high!

The students followed visual clues on an orienteering course to find the hidden treasure. They were delighted to uncover their Easter Craft Sets and Easter Eggs.
